BELEK HAMAM

What to bring to a hamam

The list is short: five everyday items. Here is each one and what it is for, plus the one question worth putting to us before your day.

In short

Bring five things to a hamam: swimwear, comfortable clothes, flip-flops or other comfortable footwear, water, and toiletries of your own if you would rather use them. Swimwear stays on through every stage, as guests are not naked in the hamam. Towels, lockers and similar facilities vary from one hamam to another, so we do not promise them; if one is important to you, check with us on WhatsApp before your day.

Photographs show Turkish bath scenes from more than one hamam. The hamam serving your hotel area may look different.

Five things, and why the list is short

The treatments themselves ask nothing of your luggage. The scrub with the kese mitt, the foam and the oil massage are all part of the Basic programme, so there is no special kit to hunt down for them.

What is left is five ordinary items. Three of them you wear; two go in a small bag. The sections below take each one in turn and say what it is for.

  • Swimwear
  • Comfortable clothes
  • Comfortable footwear or flip-flops
  • Toiletries of your own, if you would rather use them
  • Water

Guests from different hotels can be taken to different hamams, and facilities are not the same in each. That is why this list covers only what you bring, not what you will find when you arrive.

Three things you wear

Swimwear heads the list. You keep it on through every stage of the programme, whatever order the stages come in, because guests are never naked in the hamam.

Comfortable clothes come next. Pick something that comes off and goes back on without fuss, since you wear the same things for the ride back to your hotel.

Comfortable footwear or flip-flops complete the set. A hamam is a warm, wet place, and shoes you can step into without laces are simply easier each time they come off or go on.

Be dressed and ready for your hotel pickup. We confirm that time after you book. Each hotel is given its own time, so a friend at another hotel may hear a different one, and it is the moment the vehicle collects you, not the start of the hamam session. Our separate guide to what to wear goes into clothing in more detail.

Two things you carry

Toiletries are up to you. If there is a shampoo, a comb or a moisturiser you would rather not be without, put it in your bag. If you are happy without them, leave them behind.

Packing your own products is not the same as telling us about an allergy. If a scent or an ingredient does not agree with you, add it to the notes field as you book, so that we have it before the oil massage.

Water is the other thing to carry. The fare leaves out drinks and refreshments, so a bottle for each person in your group, children included, is worth the space in your bag.

For a family, the same thinking applies to everyone: each person needs swimwear, clothes and footwear of their own, and each child's age goes on the booking so that we know who is coming.

Why towels and lockers are not on the list

You may have expected towels, a peştemal, slippers or a locker to appear here. They are missing on purpose.

Hamams are not all equipped alike, and the one you visit depends on which area your hotel is in. A promise that held in one hamam could be wrong in the next, so we make none.

Leaving them off is not a signal that they are absent. It only means we will not put in writing something we cannot say for every hamam.

If any of them matters to you, message us on WhatsApp before your day and include the name of your hotel. If something cannot be confirmed, we will tell you so.

Before you set off

Put the bag together the day before, so that on the day itself all that is left is to get dressed and be ready for your pickup.

Two things belong on a different kind of list: a heavy meal and alcohol. Keep whatever you eat before the session light, and drink no alcohol beforehand.

Heat and humidity are the core of a hamam, and they do not suit every guest. If you are expecting a baby, have a heart or circulatory condition, or tend to feel unwell in heat or humidity, this is not an outing we recommend. Other health matters are a question for your doctor first: surgery or an injury in the recent past, a skin condition, blood pressure that runs unusually high or low, or any other medical condition. Mention them to the hamam as well, ahead of your session.

If you have not booked yet

When you want to book the Belek Turkish bath, the form takes a few short steps: date, hotel, guests and contact details, then the total laid out before you confirm. No card details are requested and no money changes hands online: the fare is settled at the hamam on your day. Cancelling is free of charge while at least 24 hours remain before your hamam day.

Adults, from age 11, pay €25; children aged 4–10 pay €12.50; children up to 3 pay nothing. Every fare covers the round-trip transfer for hotels in Belek, Kadriye and Boğazkent, and the whole outing lasts about 2.5–3 hours, pickup to drop-off.

A full list sets out what the Basic programme includes, next to the few things outside the price, among them drinks, photos, tips, and longer or premium massages, which this site does not sell. If this page leaves a question open, our questions and answers may cover it.

Questions

Are towels and lockers provided at the hamam?

We don't promise either. Hamams differ in their facilities, and the one you are taken to depends on your hotel. If either is important to you, send us a WhatsApp message before your day.

Do I need to bring my own shampoo or soap?

Only if you prefer to. Scrub, foam and oil massage are all part of the programme and need nothing from your bag. If you have an allergy, tell us when you book.

Is there anything to bring for the massage?

No. The massage — a basic aromatic oil massage lasting about 20 minutes — comes with the programme. What we do need is word of any allergy before it; the booking notes are the easiest place for that.
